The year is 2008. The last of the television commercials for Old Home Bread was broadcast over thirty years ago. “Convoy” is a golden oldie. Bill Fries is almost 80 years old. And C.W. McCall is a part of history.

In a column published in the 2008 June 7 editions of the Omaha World-Herald, Michael Kelly mentions a talk that would be given at the Douglas County Historical Society on the following day, June 8:

Omaha, Nebraska is in Douglas County, if you haven’t figured that out.
